January 2021 Projects & FinisheS
I started this month off with some relaxing knits after the flurry of Christmas. The first was a sock made with a set from Woolberry Fiber Co that had been in my stash for a couple of years.
I knit an Everyday Slouchy Beanie in a set of merino and Suri alpaca silk yarns from Artistic Lilly in her Sexy colorway.
I knit the size small for my 22” head. I wanted the brim snug enough to stay on, but not tight. So I gave the brim a gentle block, and it fits great! It is so soft and warm. I plan to knit more of these.
I have so many Tami Gore shawls in my queue, and these colors from Artistic Lilly called out to be The Drifter shawl.
The colors I used are Pinkmaiden, Vintage Valentine and Castle Black. I love how this turned out!
I next decided to tackle learning brioche knitting, so I could knit my next Tamy Gore design, the Color Craze.
I watched the brioche tutorials that Andrea Mowry put in a playlist, so they are easy to watch through. I did buy an ebook by Nancy Marchant, but I found it a bit overwhelming. Her website is very helpful with quick references for brioche abbreviations that were handy when I second-guessed myself.
I am using a kit from A Homespun House that is so thoughtfully put together.
The sweet house progress keeper is from Cedar River Knits.
I sent a sample of a new pattern across the Altantic for its photoshoot for a magazine. The issue is expected for the spring. I sure hope it arrives safely. Shipping has been a challenge this season.
I also cast on a new sweater for me during the last day of January, but I’ll show more on that next time. ♥
I will close with this photo of our first good snow in years that came in mid January.
