Fresh off the wheel

Happy to share my finished spin!

For this project I split my braid in the middle vertically from one end to the other. One of these I split vertically into 7 strips. The other was split vertically into 12 thin strips.

I spun all the thin strips onto one bobbin and all the thicker strips onto another bobbin. These were all spun starting with the same end (the same color.) I then plied them together onto one bobbin.

The fiber is a superwash merino nylon blend from Wound Up Fiber Arts. The colorway is Free Falling.

This blend will be great for a pair of socks, and I feel pretty sure I can get some colorwork mitts from the leftovers.

I’m so happy about how this turned out! I think committing to spinning everyday; I usually spun at least one strip per day, was what made the biggest improvement.

I’ve been having some problems with my wrist. I had to take a knitting break for a couple of weeks. I can now knit for short periods. I am so glad spinning isn’t bothering my wrist, and hopefully I’ll be back to my normal knitting routine soon.

A new pattern is being test knit right now and will be available very soon!

Wishing you a happy, peaceful week,

💖
