February 2021 News & Projects
One never knows how much personal stuff to share, but since this is my journal I decided to share that our household is currently under quarantine for COVID. So far, we are doing okay. Our state doesn’t have enough vaccines, so we haven’t been able to get one yet. I’m not looking for advice or opinions, just sharing what is going on here.
My worst symptom so far has been a 3-day headache. At present, I am perfectly fine, and being very active at home caring for my family and doing a bit of spring cleaning and organizing. Now, for the knitting!
I’m currently knitting the second sleeve of the Goldwing sweater. I modified the pattern from worsted weight yarn to fingering weight yarn. You can read how I did that in my previous journal here.
I also modified the sleeve you can see here to a rolled cuff. This is another element of her Newleaf pattern that I enjoy so much that I decided to use it here as well.
I added a bit more to the Color Craze shawl, but my knitting has really only been about the sweater lately.
The sock sample I mailed overseas last month arrived there for its magazine photo shoot. My socks are getting a dream vacation right now! I’ll keep you posted about when it will be available this spring.
I finished filling the first bobbin of this beautiful fiber from Wound Up Fiber Arts. I can’t wait to spin up the rest and finish this into yarn! I really think it will be my best spin to date.
We experienced the coldest temps for a week that I can remember. This is a photo of our 2-acre pond that froze solid. Many of our huge state lakes also froze. Our roads were so bad that we didn’t get USPS mail or any deliveries for a week. I know this type of thing is common elsewhere in the US during winter, but this is something we have never personally experienced.
A few days have passed since I started this post, and we are experiencing some periods of fever and body aches. Not much knitting is happening at present, but I have lots of ideas for future posts and tutorials to share with you. And, a some new designs are dancing through my mind.
As you can see, Chloe has her face covering in place and is practicing social distancing.
