GoldwinG Finish & WIPS
I actually finished this sweater in February after all, despite Covid. I modified the pattern for fingering weight yarn, and shared how I did it in a previous post you can find here.
I used Barrett Wool Co Wisconsin Woolenspun in the colors Rainshower and Pebble. This was a stash pull that I think really worked well together.
I used needles in sizes 3.25 mm and 3.50 mm. I’m noticing my sleeves are not as loose, despite being the same stitch count as my Newleaf sweater. It’s comfortable, but I noticed it as soon as I put it on. I think I’ve realized the reason. After finishing the colorwork yoke, I switched to the smaller size of needles instead of continuing with the 3.50 mm that I should have. This is where project notes and not my memory should be trusted. The notes I took while knitting the Newleaf were not specific enough, so I’m making note of this in my notebook. The sweater turned out beautifully, despite my error, and it still fits.
I managed a bit more knitting and spinning projects here and there in the past few days.
I’m using up my shawl leftovers to knit a pair of socks. I actually hoped to have enough leftover to knit a pair of socks, because I adore the yarn. It is from Artistic Lilly in the colorways Pinkmaiden and Vintage Valentine. I am using a heel a knitting friend (Hi, Moe!) loves. It is an Eye of Partridge heel with a garter stitch edge. I think this heel would be especially gorgeous in a solid color like I used for my Sweet Shop Socks.
The top photo is the first half of this braid spun up. For this bobbin the half braid was stripped into 10-12 narrow strips before spinning. The bottom photo is the next half braid I am currently spinning. This half of the braid was stripped into 6 wider strips before I started spinning it. I think this is considered a fractal spin. I’m still learning, so I could be wrong. I haven’t reached the point of being very detailed and am just going by feel primarily at this point of my learning.
On a personal note, we are doing well. We are almost out of quarantine. Our symptoms were mostly headaches, low fever and body aches. Our thinking was a bit muddled at times, but that was probably due to the headaches.
Until next time ♥
