Week in Review

The plying is finally done!!!

After this bobbin rests for a bit, I’ll wind it into a skein on my tabletop swift (I don’t think I need a niddy-noddy, which I don’t have), then wash it to set the twist. I’m still learning, but that’s the plan. Then I can cast on my first pair of handspun socks.

I also finished this pair of socks knit in yarn from Artistic Lilly. She isn’t currently dyeing yarn, but I hope she comes back. Her yarn is really something special, perhaps the very best yarn I’ve ever used. You might recognize the colors from my Drifter shawl that I shared here some time ago. I love it.

This project was a wip that only needed the heel and foot completed on the second sock. The heel is eye of partridge which was a fun change.

My knitting and spinning time was very short this week, but it feels good to have finished a few projects that only needed a bit more work.

This pair was also finished off and blocked recently.

I have a bit of yarn left from these two sock projects that I think will be enough for more pairs, if I switch the colors around.

I also picked up my long-neglected Talvinen sweater. It is strange to be eager to finish wips, but it is easier for me to pick up a current project right now than to choose a new one for some reason. This sweater only needs the second sleeve finished. I just started the colorwork at the cuff, so it should be done soon. Maybe it will still fit. I started it almost 1-1/2 years ago.

I hope you’ve had a great week! 💖
