Knit all the things
I finished my Talvinen!
This sweater was designed by Caitlin Hunter. I knit mine in Knit Picks Palette. The colors I used are Garnet Heather, Asphalt Heather and Findley Heather. I think the pattern included bobbles, which for reasons I can’t remember, I didn’t do. And, I altered the sleeves to a more traditional fit. I really like how it turned out.
I still have to weave in my ends and remove all the stitch markers I must have thought I needed, but otherwise it is blocked and ready for the first cold snap.
I’m super excited to test knit a new shawl design by Tamy Gore. I’ve so enjoyed knitting her patterns, so I couldn’t resist testing her latest. I stash dove and choose this combination. I have additional yarn of one of these colors and some others I might add.
I have a note on this yarn, which I’m not naming, since I have a negative to share; the dyer advises prewashing the yarn for colorwork, which is good advice, but these dark colors would not stop bleeding, even in cold water without soap. After the third wash, I pulled out my dye pots and using water and citric acid, I set the dye myself. I love the range of colors they have and will continue to use it in future, but it is good to keep in mind there might be a need to set the dyes. And, it’s also a good reminder to prewash yarns for colorfastness before starting a colorwork project, especially if it’s from a dyer you may not have experience with yet.
In case you are wondering, I finished plying my spinning project, but I still need to skein and set the twist. I hope to get it done in the coming days.
Have a great week, everyone! 💖
